April | Discipline & Elevation

This month, we focus on building disciplined habits and elevating the quality of our training.

Discipline is built in the small things we do consistently. Every class, every practice!

📢 Announcements 📢

Sparring Gear Requirement

To ensure safety and maintain training standards, sparring gear is now required for all classes. At a minimum, students must bring:

Students without proper gear will not be allowed to participate in sparring.

Enforcement Policy
  • 1st occurrence: Reminder
  • 2nd occurrence: Sit out sparring
  • Repeated occurrences: Parent notification

Please note that consistent attendance, preparedness (including proper gear), and discipline in class are important factors in a student’s overall evaluation and development.

Over the next week, we will continue to provide reminders through email, text, and in-class announcements. Full enforcement will begin at April 6th, after this one-week grace period to allow everyone time to prepare accordingly.

Sparring is an essential part of our training. Proper gear is not optional. It protects both you and your training partners. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and disciplined training environment.

Ongoing Program Improvements

We are currently working on several initiatives to improve the overall quality and consistency of our training program:

  • Attendance Tracker & Evaluation App: proposed by Master A. as part of his Red Belt I thesis, this system will help us better track attendance and support more structured student evaluations.
  • Standardized Grading Criteria: proposed by Instructor K., this initiative aims to ensure that belt testing and evaluations remain fair, consistent, and based on clear technical standards.

These efforts reflect our commitment to building a more structured, transparent, and high-quality training environment for all students. Attendance, discipline, and how students train in class all play an important role in their overall development and evaluation. As we continue refining our systems, we aim to provide clearer guidance and greater consistency in how student progress is observed and assessed.
